This film is about a group of American soldiers that had landed in Normandy which they lost a great number of men. The mission was code-name Omaha . After they advance from the beach front they continue their mission after when they got a next mission to carry out and they did so and the mission was to save Private Ryan played by Matt Damon which he was a paratrooper.
The person that was leading the mission to save Private Ryan was Captain John H. Miller played by Tom Hanks. So they set out find their objective so that they could go home.

The characters that where in the movie was
• Tom Hanks- which played as Captain John H. Miller and was a teacher before he joined the arm and now was a leader for his squad
• Tom Sizemore- He played Technical Sergeant Michael Horvath.
• Edward Burns- he played Private First Class Richard Reiben, the Bar runner
• Barry Pepper- was Private Daniel Jackson, a highly religious and was the sharpshooter for his team.
• Adam Goldberg- he played Private Stanley Mellish, also a Jewish rifleman on his team.
• Vin Diesel- he was also a rifleman for his squad and played Private First Class Adrian Caparzo.
• Giovanni Ribisi- played as Technician 4th Grade Irwin Wade and was the medic for his squad.
• Jermy Davies- he played the Technician 5th Grade Timothy E. Upham and was the cartographer and the interpreter of his team.
• Matt Damon- which his Private First class James Francis Ryan , a paratrooper who should get save.

The battle situations that where in the film I would say was accurate because as it said in the book that a US Navy destroyer came close to the beach to help fire of the Germans that was firing on the Americans that where on the beach. But if they had come on the beach fully they would have been grounded. And just in the film when they land on the beach in Normandy with heavy fire from the Germans it also said it in the books

My opinion on this film is that it was a good film set on D-Day and what they had to go through. It was a good Army film and I also like arm films. Everything about it was good and you could actually read from the book and see it in the film

To sum up this movie I would great fully recommended it to some one to watch and understand the impact d-day had. It has loads of action right from the start to the end, with some of your biggest stars also appearing in it. With this movie I would rate it 8.5 from 10 because it is that good to watch.
